Handicap Reinstatement - anyone know?

Hi - I emigrated from Ireland about 4 years ago, and took a leave of absence from my club. When I left, my exact GUI was 8.8 - wondering is it possible to get my GUI handicap reinstated for a few weeks as I am planning on playing while on my summer holidays, mid July. Will of course ask my club if it is possible, but I'm not officially a member anywhere anymore, just a member on a leave of absence....I assume I am goosed, but wondering if anyone knows for sure? I'm likely playing no where near my last handicap, as I haven't had a scorecard in my hand for real since I left, and my golfing has been reduced to maybe 5 games a year , all I want to do is enter a few comps, I know I have no chance of winning.

AFAIK your card is suspended for the period of leave of absence, meaning you cannot play in competition. I cant see the GUI allowing you to reinstate it for a few weeks use.

Oh well - thanks for letting me know. I suppose its fair enough, for all anyone knows I could have been hiding away getting one on one coaching from butch harmon for the last four years, all ready to swoop on a lucrative hoard of polish crystal.....

You lose your handicap after 6 months of non-membership. You'll need to submit 3 cards I'm afraid.

Ah, fair enough. Thanks for letting me know. I can't argue with the logic of it. Bit of a catch 22 for me this one, should have gotten myself affiliated with a club over here......doh.
