Heading to London for the road races and need to know the best places to view from.

Managed to get tickets for box hill for the womens race on the Sunday but couldn't get any for the mens race. Would still like to get onto the loop somewhere so as to see them as much as possible. Anybody know the best place to be on the loop if you don't have tickets? Or anybody have any unwantd tickets for the Saturday?

Any other information or ideas would be appreciated!!

Going on the Sat myself - from what I can gather the tickets on Box Hill refer to the main climb (and seating?). The rest of Box Hill is open and free, don't know the area but I presume this is a question of getting there very early on Sat. I see there are camp sites organised for the area also. I am going to London on Fri, hiring a bike and planning to cycle to Box Hill, would I be right in assuming the route will be marked on the Friday? I am also expecting that a lot of cyclists will be checking out the route on that day so it could be also be very interesting. As a matter of interest I booked return flights 2 weeks ago at just €32 and this morning got what seems like a nice hotel in Leatherhead (about 5Km from Box Hill) for €110 - I am amazed that all this is possible just 4 weeks out.

Yeah the tickets get you into the Donkey Green area, not sure about seating, but there is a big screen there so you can watch the race while its not passing your area. Will have to look into other spots on the hill for Saturday, just arrive very early I guess.

Staying in near London first night (€80 for two) and hope for somewhere nearer box hill the second night.

Flights about €60 each a few weeks ago.

Not sure about cycling around as not bringing my bike and it's a long way out from london for borris bikes, might look into hiring but imagine there will be lots of demand?? I'd say the route would be well marked by then.

Have bike reserved from this company http://www.londonbicycle.com/ - no CC or deposit required just said they would keep one for me.

I think it is about 40Km to Box Hill from central London, should be a nice spin down on Fri. morning - with some interesting company I hope and of course there couldn't possibly be any more rain left by then - could there?

That sounds like a plan and a half! Are you spinning out and back, or there and staying overnight, coming back late on Sat?

Cycling down Friday (Shannon-Stansted 6.35am) collecting bike between 10 and 11 - staying very near Box Hill Fri. night - and cycling back Sat after the race.
