    Hi,
First time making a brew of wine and I'm about to put an order in for yeast and other pwders. I want to order corks and a corker while I'm at it. I'm confused about the sizes, hope you can help.
I'll be using standard 75cl bottles. I measured the opening on a few and they look to be 19mm. But the corks I see advertised are much bigger in the descriptions??
So I was thinking of getting a pack of these which look a safe bet ...
    http://www.homebrewwest.ie//straight-corks-delux-25-youngs-no-soak-corks-110-p.asp

    And also this corker ...
    http://www.homebrewwest.ie//hand-corker-fiw-plastik-1759-p.asp

But see where it says for 38mm corks only, is that the length? Do you think it would suit those corks?

Thanks for clearing up any confusion, feel dumb asking, have to start somewhere :)

Hi the 38 is normally the length. When I ordered my wine kit/fermenter I got the corks and corker with it.The corks are about 23mmx38mm.
I got http://www.homebrewwest.ie//corker-fiw-2-levers-adjustable-1026-p.asp this with my kit.It is tapered towards the bottom. They said that after bottling you should stand the bottle up right for the cork to return to normal for a few days and then store them on its side. There are just a few bottles that take bigger corks, the normal corks will fit 99% of the bottles.I got 40 bottles from a restaurant and only one was bigger.
