In a nutshell I'm looking for sumwhere warm, a nice beach with half decent nightlife area/restaurants etc and will rent an apt for 10 days/2 weeks. Looked at greece but def dont want to run into all the leaving cert students there, looked at malta but there doesnt seem to be any sandy beaches, im thinkin south of spain marbella area but its all abit obvious!!!.....help!!!!!

How about Barcelona? Great beaches (7 in total I think) Brilliant night life and a good all rounder in general. Lots of touristy things to keep you entertained as well.

I would definately agree with 1.Barcelona (plenty of fab resorts on the coast above and below it, get the train north and you have ten or so resorts with great beaches to choose from and you can have some city time too) and 2. South of France....I absolutely love the area, you cant beat Nice (ok the beach isnt sandy but you have plenty of beaches within easy reach on the cheap local train, and again you have some city time too)....Also look at Santorini...ok its Greece but it wont be full of young kids !!!
Alpharooms is a great site to book accomodation through, I have found them to be cheaper than other sites for summer holiday type bookings.

Barcelona in nice but 2 weeks there would be expensive unless you consider going down the cost towards Salou or Cambrils. (5 euro by train) we stayed 4 days in Barcelona and a week down in cambrils.

Majorca would be nice or if you wanted something different have a look at somewhere like Croatia.

Croatia has an Italian feel, good food you can hop on a boat to the islands or over to venice for the day and visit
Dubrovnik.if you were looking at Greece you may like Croatia.

Lagos, Portugal has everything you want I think. I like the Marina Club Apartments.

I think there are lots of places in Greece you could go to too, just avoid Crete, Zante and Ayia Napa, Cyprus.

The island of crete is massive, i would not recommend avoiding the entire place, or zante, there are good and bad places on both islands,

My boyfriend booked a surprise holiday for us, we are heading to Ayia Napa end of September, I was delighted and maybe a bit apprehensive when I heard Ayia Napa, but have been looking it up and it sounds lovely, still good night life at that time of year without the leaving cert mania types and great weather, cannot wait! Otherwise I would choose Portugal, stay well clear of Turkey :-)
