    Hey, I am planning on getting motorbike license as well after I pass my driving test in next two weeks, I was just wondering, what's needed? Same procedure?
    Theory -> [EDT/IBT] -> 6 Months -> Driving test.
    Or can Theory step be skipped?

    You got it in one OP! You have to do Theory, IBT, 6 Months then test.

    And then the two year period until you can get your bike unrestricted.

    Hey. Does anybody know what the cheapest price for the IBT course would be?
    The cost of it takes the fun out of wanting to get a bike licence!!

    Not sure what cheapest is, but it seems to be around 400 to 500 euro easily.

    Add around another 700 minimum for gear, the same again for insurance, and then a few grand for a bike. They certainly don't make it easy.

    Yes but alot of schools rent gear to their pupils. The most important thing is the full licence, everything else falls into place.

    Anyone thinking of completing their IBT should try and get it done before the new licensing regulations come into effect January 2013

    See http://www.rsa.ie/en/RSA/Learner-Drivers/New-Driver-Licensing-Rules-from-January-2013/

    There is a meeting with the RSA and all IBT instructors scheduled for next month so we'll have more details then.

    No. Only riders over 24 will benefit from the changes, To everyone else it'll be a pain in the arse to get a full 'A'.

    Any idea of roughly what the changes will be or what the proposal is?
