Quietest Turbo?

    Folks
I need to get a turbo trainer to add to the training options (when bambino no. 1 arrives in the next week or so).

I'm living in an apartment, wooden floors & decent neighbours all around - so I need to get an uber quiet trainer.

I'm debating at the moment between the Cyclops Fluid 2 & the Kurt Kinetic ones (Rock n Roll) and Road Machine - both of which are silicone based I think.

Has anyone got any of these trainers? How quiet are they?

Any other options you'd recommend that are next to silent?

    Cheers
    DV

Had a go on a cycleops turbo and it was very quiet compared to my tacx.

Still a little noisy at full tilt though.

You'll be too shagged from sleepless nights to be getting up on a turbo... So will your OH so I doubt they will enjoy watching u train indoors either!

    My suggestion:
Wait till bambino has settled in then decide if it's still a good idea.

    Best of luck with both.
(as u can guess my life has gotten rather sedentary since the little ones have arrived)

kurt kinetic road machine is quiet compared to others put theres still noise, I wouldnt use it late at night unless you had solid walls, a rubber mat and stay below 35km/h, the faster you go the more noise obviously. there should be a youtube video compare the road machine to a different brand, it will give u an idea of the noise difference

I have the Elite Crono fluid elastogel trainer and it is whisper quiet. I use it in my shed while watching tv on my laptop - volume not up full on the laptop. Resistance is constant so you increase levels by shifting through the gears as oppossed to any levers.

I have a Saris Fluid2 which is reasonably quiet (also living in an apartment). But if you really want almost silent this is what we also have the Saris Pro 300 http://www.cycleops.com/products/indoor-cycles.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_images.tpl&product_id=171&category_id=7

I can setup my laptop and talk to someone on skype without earphones while on it (sometimes someone calls while watching something) - no vibrations etc. (just costs a chunk)
