Pay one leg at a time, you pay on the day or day after of the trip online or at an approved outlet, according to their site :) In fairness it's handy enough they allow you to pay the day after imo :)

In practice you can pay in advance whenever you want. If you overpay your account (reg. no.) ends up with a positive balance and it's deducted from whenever you pass through. I've had a few quid sitting in my account for ages due to APNR fails that resulted in toll free runs. It saved my ass when I went abroad and didn't pay until I returned.

she could register and it will be done direct debit.

You can also 'prepay' for your journeys on the M50 using the same payment methods as above.

I think that answers the OP's question. I looked at the the etrip.ie website and it says that you can prepay and the method is the same as postpay. In other words you can build up a credit and then draw from it.

OP, go to any shop with the Payzone sign, give them your registration number and pay for 2 x M50 tolls, job done.

Just to confirm few posters who know how it works:

If you pay it in advance - it will be taken off the balance after your trip.

The money stay there(your reg number) for long - previous owner was in credit as i found later.

I would still recommend getting the video account - you don't have to worry about any extra charges, and you don't have to remember to pay. Little discount too - no tag required. Fits me well - as i am not regular user of m50.

Not really cost effective for the infrequent user.

Video reg accounts have no monthly fee...
Perfect solution for infrequent user - fits me and many others well.

Thanks guys, i'll pay for 2 trips then (€6). I would only use it once or twice a year for the airport or port. Never go to Dublin itself.

+1 - I use this myself, I average about 1 trip a month. I think you need to be doing over 2 a month for the reduced charge per trip to compensate for the monthly fee.

Just pay that day, i done it last year while going to Mountshannon from Dublin.
I paid in my local Eurospar 2 hours before i went. I knew i'd be down there for 4 days and wasnt sure of the local Centra being set up for M50 payments.

    Worked for me.

As far as I can recall, there is a fee of €1 per month to maintain a dd account (but the crossings are €2), whereas a video account costs €2.50 a crossing, and a once-off payment costs €3.00

You quoted my post about video account, and mentioned some fees ???
    Mistake probably.
Anyway, juts to confirm - for video account it is 2.50/journey, and no monthly fee. It can be set-up as prepaid/postpaid. Best option if you use it from time to time, no extra cost even if you don't use it at all!

My bad, I meant to quote the post above yours, relating to how a dd account isn't great for infrequent users. Sorry for any confusion.

    Hi all,

OP - If you want to prepay for your M50 journeys you can do so by going online to www.eflow.ie or by calling us on 1890 50 10 50. Payment can be made using Visa, MasterCard, Laser or Visa Debit.

Just to clarify the different accounts, the video account is €2.50 per trip for a car, is exclusive to the M50 and has no monthly fees. Our tag account works for all toll roads, you'll get a €1.00 discount on your tolls on the M50 and there is a monthly admin fee of €1.23 a month.

If you want any more information feel free to PM me or we have a Talk To forum you can use.

    All the best,
    Ciaran
