Anyone have one of these I can borrow or know where I can get one at a keen price? Ditched the run flats on my car and need to put it through an nct soon!

you dont need a spare wheel for the NCT. Just leave the space empty.
Most people will not lend you the spare wheel kit from an E60 unless you know them well as they are over €200 from the dealer.

When one comes up for sale they are whipped straight away aslong as they are keenly priced. there was one on donedeal last week for €100 but by the time i seen it and rang it was sold :(

anyway, in regards the NCT, you dont need one, but i would recommend one for ease of mind for normal driving as you dont want to get a flat somewhere ;)

But if the car doesn't have run flats on, won't they fail you on the basis of not having a spare?

no, a spare wheel is a nice accessary to have, its not mandatory. Your car will pass without a spare wheel in the boot, once everything else is ok of course.

The NCT dont check for RFT or non RFT, they just check the tyres condition, thread depth and e Mark.

Plenty of cars out there don't have RFTs and don't have a spare wheel either, all they have is a can of tyre weld. A spare wheel is not a requirement for the NCT, however if one is present in the car then it will be checked.

Thanks lads, you just saved me the guts of 300 euros.

With my last car I only got one puncture in the three years I had it. It was a slow puncture caused by a nail, and I was able to drive around with it for a couple of weeks before I realised I had a real problem.

With this car, I have new Falkens all round and a couple of cans of tire weld in the boot. I reckon I might be alright.

I ditched my RFTs and put a space saver in the boot as there is no tyre well in the e90. I took it out when I NCT'd it back in May with no issues.

If it's for the E60 as well I'd buy it off you ;)

E90 spare wheel wont fit an E60 IIRC.
    Centre bore is different.

I done the same on the GF's E90. normal tyres on, E46 space saver wrapped in a black bag and just placed in the boot for emergencies. Also got a jack, and wheel brace which fits snuggly in one of the side compartments in the boot.

When the RFT wear down on my E60 i will be ditching them too and going normal tyres with space saver kit in the boot.

Yeah I've switched over already to non-runflats and it makes a world of difference.
It's a pain carrying a spare wheel in the boot so I must get a space saver to free up my boot again.

I only took it out for the NCT. Won't fit the E60 anyways.
