sharing files across networked win7 and xp

    hi,

    i need help please!

    have a pc downstairs running xbmc on win7pro linked by cat5 to my eircom router in turn linked to my older xp machine upstairs.

    i have internet access from both and xbmc can see the files i set to share no problem.

    but if i go through explorer it shows the xp machine as a media device and i can only access through win media player?

    i want to move files from xp machine to the win7 machine

    i realise i am missing something simple but can't see wood fro trees :(

    if this is wrong forum please point me in the right direction
