Hazards / currents near Liscannor?

I'll be on holiday next week near Doolin. Currently I'm training for a 4K open-water event, so I need to get in a few decent swims while I am on hols. Long range forecast looks like NW winds, so I reckon the area around Liscannor should be sheltered.

Can anybody familiar with that area advise me on hazards / currents? I was thinking of swimming west from Liscannor.

Re safety, I've been open water swimming for several years, and I'll have a kayaker with me for cover. So deep water is not a problem.
