    Monasterio de Bonaval. Retrospectiva y abandono de un monumento
    El Monasterio de Bonaval fue uno de los primeros monasterios cistercienses creados en Castilla-La Macha. Fue fundado en 1164 por Alfonso VIII de Castilla para los monjes de la Orden del Císter venidos de Palencia.
    Levantado entre finales del siglo XII y principios del XIII, su estructura es característica de principios del XIII: torre de planta poligonal rematada en almenas y cabecera de triple ábside, con estrechos ventanales orlados de zigzag y decorados con punta de diamante.
    El monasterio fue abandonado tras la Desamortización y en 1894 el pueblo de Retiendas se convirtió en el nuevo propietario.

    Bonaval Monastery. Retrospective and abandonment of a monument

    Bonaval Monastery was one of the first Cistercian monasteries established in Castilla-La Mancha. It was founded in 1164 by Alfonso VIII of Castile to the monks of the Cistercian Order came from Palencia.
    Built between the late twelfth and early thirteenth centuries, its structure is characteristic of the early XIII polygonal tower topped with battlements and head of a triple apse, edged with narrow windows and decorated with zigzag diamond.
    The monastery was abandoned after the confiscation and in 1894 the people of Retiendas became the new owner.
