Hi, I read quite a while ago, maybe 12 - 15 months ago that TV3 were building a new studio capable of taking a studio audience. Anyone else hear that? Are they building a new studio or not? Does anyone know?

TV3 to build €4m HD studio

They have also invested in something called Metrocam
TV3 has recently invested in a technology known as the “Metrocam” that means their journalists don’t need to have a satellite van nearby to broadcast live images to the studio.
The Metrocam works by placing a radio frequency transmitter on a camera, which sends the video and audio wirelessly to a tower in Dame Court – near the Stag’s Head pub. From there, it is sent via fibre network to a base in Saggart, and then is ‘microwaved’ to TV3’s studios in Ballymount.
“It is actually less complicated – and cheaper – than the process of parking a van and booking satellite space, which incurs a cost each time”, explains Niall Cogley, director of broadcasting at TV3.

They are broadcasting from their new studio from September/Autumn I believe, around the time of the Analogue switch-off and the launch of TV3 HD!

could they not sort out their content first? It's great having state of the art studios and all that, but what good is it when what you're filming in said state of the art studios is absolute crap?

    also: VinB in HD.........
