Saw him recently in a set with Nico Muhly and Owen Pallett.

Great Folk singer anyone on here know much about him?

One of my favourite artists. I've seen him a few times now, and he's always excellent. Playing quite a few shows across the country this summer. Don't miss him.

    What a song!

I've seen him twice now in the last month. The other night in the Caves in Mitchelstown he played a song with the lyrics "a short life of trouble, a few more years of war.... I'll ask her if she'll marry me" or something along those lines. Is this some new stuff or has he previously released this song because I haven't heard it before, it was a beautiful song anyway spine tingly!! Sam's the best!

He was fantastic in Newbridge on Saturday night. It was disappointing to see such a small crowd though. Thought the drummer brought a new dimension to the songs. He even got to rock out a few times! I love when artists are willing to rework material live, and not simply play their stuff exactly as it is on the cd.

I was actually contemplating driving up to see him in Newbridge. I hope he comes back again soon. He's so refreshing and his laid back attitude is great.

I found a version of Short of Life of trouble that Sam played the other night that has similar lyrics. His Version was with a guitar instead of a banjo and had more of a lazy feel to it.

Was the drummer guy using a synthesiser? In the caves he didn't have a kit just a little Korg touchpad or something.

He had a full kit which he mainly played with his hands, and also played bass and piano at times.

Deadly! When he played the triskel he had no accompaniment, raging I didn't take the trip up the country now!!
