Feck it, you're finished now, don't beat yourself up about it. At the end of the day, you have a degree. The parchment doesn't mention grades. You can still get into a masters with a 2.2; loads of people I know have :) re: jobs, you could have a first and be totally unable to do anything practical or whatever.

And it's not useless. I'm not useless and I'm pretty sure you're not either! :D

You can reject your degree and repeat final year if you want. You'd have to pay fees though.

Hardly worth repeating the final year of a degree you passed and paying fees that you will need to put into a postgrad to actually get trained to be able to do something. This is where your focus should be now.

Let me put it this way - looking at my 1993 graduating year of a science degree, if you compare salaries to degree grades, in general the lower the degree grade the higher the salary. Many of the people who got pass degrees are earning 100K+ salaries in top management positions, or running successful businesses, whilst many of the 2:1 and 1 people are working in 25 - 30K tech jobs (some after completing Ph.D's! ) or teaching - not that there's anything wrong with that of course. So draw your own conclusions.

Not saying this is a general rule - just don't let it get to you!

I wouldn't count out repeating. I was in your position last year and I decided to repeat externally, which allowed me to hold down a full time job too. I increased my grade to a 2.1 and as a result I've been accepted to a masters course and I have the money saved up to pay for it. Repeating externally costs around €250 in total or thereabouts which is far more sensible than spending 5k on repeating internally. That is unless a large part of your course was based on continuous assessment as your grades will be carried forward. External students still have access to Moodle, library, gym, student services etc. It's not all that different.

Bear in mind I repeated so I could go onto a masters and that's what I'll be doing this year. If you're not going to do a masters it should be noted that a years work experience in a relevant job is probably just as valuable to employers as a 2.1, so there is a trade-off.

One thing is for sure though, if you do repeat, make sure you bring up your grade.

I also just got a 2.2 after 3 years of basically doing nothing, going out and wikipediaing the course the night before exams :/ I know I didn't deserve any better but to be fair I did get a 2.1 in English, the subject my Masters is in, it was my lower grade in history which pulled it down! Will I ever manage to get a teaching job with this grade? :/ I intend on working my ass of during my MA.
