With the thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056679625 on who is going to miss the playoffs having seemingly run it's course I thought it time to vote on which 5 new teams are going to reach the playoffs.

Using the results of the previous thread, the following teams will stay in the playoffs for next year:

    Texans
    Patriots
    Ravens + Steelers

    49ers
    Packers + Lions

And the following teams will miss out:

    Bengals
    Broncos

    Giants
    Saints + Falcons

So nominate the 5 teams you think will replace the above in the play-offs, keeping in mind divisional and wildcard constraints.

Who will make the Playoffs (Select 5 teams, obeying divisional constraints) 169 votes

    Eagles
My 5 would be, in order of likelihood:

    Chicago
    Buffalo
    Dallas
    Seattle
    Carolina

However, I don't think Atlanta will miss out (and Im not sure Carolina will do enough to secure a wildcard), and I'm not convinced Detroit will still be there (hence my choosing of Chicago instead).

I just made a mistake by voting Bears, Panthers, Cowboys, Eagles and Bills. That would mean either the Saints or Packers missing the playoffs. What I meant to vote was Bears, Cowboys, Eagles, Bills and Jets. Last year the AFC North got 3 teams in the playoffs because they played the AFC South and NFC West, this year the AFC East gets to play those divisions.

You think the Bills are a 10/11 win team? Even against those divisions I don't see them making the playoffs.

    Bears, Cardinals, Eagles, Bills, Titans
Though that is only because had to pick 5. Only 2 I would feel comfortable with are Bears and Eagles.

    Redskins
    Raiders

I think the raiders win the AFC West. Carlson Palmer has an off season to work with the play book and if McFadden stays healthy they get to 10 wins. With the chargers still having Norv Turner as HC, the Bronco's with a tough schedule to make 10 wins. The Chiefs could be a sunrise package with a fit Charles/Cassel .

    Bills

I'm a jets fan! Ouch! Honestly I believe Bills or the Jets will get to the play offs as a wild card. Now I'm basing Bills beating the jets to a wild card on a view reasons. The Bills front 7 now is arguably the best in the league, If Ryan Fitzpatrick and Fred Jackson can stay fit. Add in the quarterback controversy in New York and I could see the Bills sneak 9/10 wins .

    Eagles
I just think Vick , Deseannnnnn!!!! Will be better on offense and Demeco Ryan's being signed at linebacker helps them against the run.

    Cowboys
They've improved there defense massively. They had Lost 3 games in the fourth quarter when they had a 14 point lead or more. This won't happen to them this year.

    Bears
3 seed in NFC north easier schedule . Now if Cutker and Forte both get injured again well then no they won't make it.But I can't see them both on IR next season. There defense won't be as good though, it's getting older.

Interesting that two people think the two non-Patriot playoff teams will come from the AFC East.
I can only assume that you guys are expecting another post Giants Super Bowl, Bernard Pollard assassination attempt of Brady.

Unless the AFC East can produce 3 playoff teams?

I presume Dave meant either Bills or Jets not both?

I couldn't imagine the Patriots not winning that division to be honest.

Chargers will get in this time. At expense of Broncos or Bengals.

    Dunno bout another 4.

Yes I mean either the jets or bills not both. Plus the patriots will only be better next year with Mcshambles back.

Ah, makes a lot more sense now.

Well there's nothing wrong with 3 playoff teams from the one division. AFC North did it (and as I said had the same schedule as AFC East). That said I think the Ravens and the Steelers make the playoffs but I'm stuck. Wouldn't be too surprised if AFC NOrth only put one team in the playoffs.

I went with the Eagles, Cowboys, Bears, Bills and Chiefs.

The Eagles are (once again) poised for a great season, the only fears I have now are if Vick can keep away from the turnovers and if DeSean can catch and keep hold of the football. Oh, and the safeties. The pass rush is fierce.

I personally feel the Giants might miss out this year, so I think the Cowboys have a better chance of coming through. They've strengthened the parts (secondary) of their side that needed strengthening. Maybe Garrett won't ice his own kicker this year.

Brandon Marshall and Michael Bush are key additions to the bears, especially if Matt Forte holds out/goes down. Cutler, if fit, has a nice option at wideout, they should do well this year.

The Chiefs have a strong defence and a good offence assuming they stay fit. A well rounded team who should prosper in the AFC west.

Everyone knows what the Bills did through the off season, they have enough talent to make it through

Well first thing, no way is the AFC North sending three teams to the playoffs.
    It might be just one

Tennessee to challenge strongly for that division title and I see them winning it. I know Houston are strong but the Titans have a very strong shot at it

Chiefs are good in all three phases, have a good coaching staff, division winners

    Eagles, also division winners

Bears for a wildcard, Vikings are improving but not there yet and Lions are going backwards this year

Bills but Fitzpatrick must keep the turnovers down. 24 TD - 23 INT last season has to be improved. Had a good offseason, future looks bright
