    In what must be the ending of the US media's worst kept secret, CNN anchorman Anderson Cooper has finally come out and announced that he is gay.

    Cooper, 45, frequently reports news stories from countries that are virulently homophobic and oppressive of LGBT people.

    I must say though, I'm very pleased that the two coolest and most intelligent anchors (him and Rachel Maddow) in the us are out. :D

    I can't imagine many people will be shocked to hear this, but really, what or how does it matter? It would be great if this wasn't deemed newsworthy. It's his own business, not the E! "news" channel's.......

    Read his email and Andrew Sullivan's post. Sums up why it's news. It matters to people who need a positive gay role model and it matters to people who think gays are nothing but deviants and stereotypes.

    It also matters to people who think he's a ride and are happy to know they have a
    very very slim
    chance

    He's been out to family and friends for years. He just never publicly did it nor did he have to because he wasn't living a lie for the sake of how the public saw him.

    It's good news I suppose that a guy with such a high stature in television has come out fully though.
