Ps3 Slim not reading disks...

    Hey all,

So after installing an update a few days ago it seems that something has gone wrong with my ps3... It was playing BF3 perfectly the other day but once the system was powered back up the next day it wouldn't load a game/dvd/cd. I googled it and decided to do a fan test, this worked and it played fine until this afternoon where it's now back to square one...any ideas?

*Everything else works perfectly and it dosn't seem to be a problem with the disk tray as it's not making any jerking or clicking noises.

    Thanks :o

    Sounds like YLOD.

Blu Ray drive might be knackered.

Can you tell/hear if the disk spins in the drive?

Sounds like the Blu-ray is gone. happened to me with my 3 month old ps3. Is it under warrant? usually the blu-ray fails with within the first few months and not late into a consoles shelf life.

My first slim's blu ray went about 7 months after purchase. It was still under warranty and HMV replaced it for me. If you can do that, and they can see that its not working they'll change it. Else go to a repair place and see about getting it done privately. If the warranty is up already there's no harm in opening it I don't think...
