Bit of a cross over with the photography forum I suppose. But The Rolling Stones photo diary "50" is out soon.

    has all the info.

Its not a gig or anything, and its free. But the worldwide launch is in Thomas House on Weds 11th July. In case anyone wants to come down and have a flick throgh the book, maybe buy one. Or just listen to the stones all night!

lots of Stones publications on the way i'd imagine. Martin Elliott's updated 50th Anniversery edition of the Stones Complete Recording Sessions is due out this month too with a forward by Chris Kimsey. Excellent book.

Hey, it was big news back in 1962 ...

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

The stones are taking advantage of a loophole where not officially announcing you've pretty much split up means you're 'still active'! I reckon.. with the occasional club performance every 5yr or so they just keep on rollin'. Great KR interview on the news yesterday

In fairness their last tour lasted 2 years (2005 - 2007) and inc 147 shows.

It is the 2nd highest grossing tour ever behind U2's last outing.

When they hit the road, they go for it in a spectacular way.

Richards stated yesterday they had a rehearsel recently and Id expect a 50th anniversary tour announced soon.

Didn't even know they were on the road recently as '07 nevermind the scale of the tour.. they once performed in front of nearly two million on a feckin beach. I think only jean michael jarre came close to that, out by the pyramids but that was more a convening of space cadets tbh..
