Recommend company vehicle

A friend of mine was asking me for some advice regarding which type of company vehicle to purchase for a new employee and I thought what better place to get recommendations than the Motors thread :D.

Obviously there are a few criteria that are a must. These are -
    1. Under €10k
    2. Most efficient diesel possible
    3. Commercial vehicle, 4x4 (or not, depending on BIK)
    4. As little or no BIK associated
    5. Possible lease option?
    6. Value for money
    7. Decent drive

Any recommendations? Vehicle will only need to carry small parts, so LWB vans, etc. are not needed. Thanks.

Second hand probably something like a Pugeot 207 diesel van or a VW Caddy. Most companies seem to lease new vehicle though.

6 of your 7 criteria will be matched by the two one I mentioned but tbh matching No 7 will be a challenge that most employers don't bother with as that vehicle probably doesn't exist.

A quick search for commercial vehicles on carzone begs to differ. There are loads to choose from. Everything from commercial 4x4, caddy vans and carvans. There were even some nice VW Touareg in the search results. Although, these wouldn't exactly meet the 'good on diesel' criteria :) (28.8mpg)

Is the BIK not on the new value of the car not the second hand value?

You can't get much for 10k, A Nissan Poxo would be about it unless a TaTa dealer opens.

Yes, but why screw an employee over on BIK for a vehicle that's not worth what the BIK level will be.

A percentage of the Open Market Value depending on annual mileage, according to what I've read.

As far as I'm aware, it's on the price of a new vehicle.

This is why companies lease cars and change regularly.

Yea that's what I though, hence I don't have an Austin Martin.

I hear the Austin Allegro is much nicer.....:P

OP, I'd be looking at a commercial vehicle in these circumstances, the budget will get more this way as VAT can be claimed back.

Buying something straight is your only option here, nobody will lease a used vehicle.
