Anyone ever used this site to book a hotel..I did today and although it eventually took payment from a credit card..the email recieved says pending in relation to the actual conformation of the hotel

When i contacted them they said they are awaiting confirmation from the hotel..does that mean that the rooms i booked arent secured yet even though ive paid for them?

Anyone successfully used this site that can shed light??
    Thanks

You have booked a hotel through an intermediary company, all you have to do now is hope that they pay the hotel for your room, otherwise when you turn up you will be turned away because you have no contract with the hotel itself. The fact that they took the money from your credit card before getting confirmation from the hotel isn't a good sign.

How did you find them in the first place and were they offering better terms than the hotel itself?

Thanks..they came up from a search among other companies that id be more familar with, but yes they had the best price and at a fraction of the actual hotel...

im hoping its not a case of 'if it seems too good to be true etc....'

While these companies should be able to offer good room rates because they're directing extra business to the hotel, at peak times of the year there is no reason why hotels in popular locations should be giving away rooms at a 'fraction' of their normal prices. If they can (discount in the middle of the peak season), I'd be concerned as to why.

Phone the hotel a couple of days before you travel to make sure that you have a reservation. Let me remind you what I said in my first post, you have no contract with the hotel so if they know nothing about the reservation then you will have to find somewhere else to stay.

Be carefully. I ve bought in outlethotel.com. I bought 30 April to an hotel 18 October. In 2 June they cancelled my reservation. They tell me the hotel is overbooking . The hotel tell me it´s not true. They didn´t refund my credit card.

Holy Sh*t thats all very negative...well if my reservation is cancelled ill be gutted..Ive confirmed with the hotel who say the reservation is there and is paid for so unless the company cancel at the last min as i see has happened with some , but if its paid for can they cancel the payment too..?

methinks ill be changing my credit card to be on the safe side :(

I asked my credit card company to get the money back.
I asked my bank to cancel my credit car, so they only took my money once.

There are many sites about them

Well seems you were right :( Just today i found out that my reservation had been cancelled. Hotel didnt know why. Outlet hotels didnt answer phone or email. I spoke to Gulliver GTA who dealt with the hotel for them..they forwarded me to Dubai!!! I eventually contacted RoomsRecord, com who seem to be the same people as Outlethotels...and knew all about my booking...said they couldnt explain what happened and would refund my money.
I have cancelled my credit card and have no booking at the hotel and am at the loss of my money..
    Im disgusted!!!

When you say you've 'cancelled the credit card', do you mean you've closed the account? That won't achieve anything, you will still owe them the outstanding balance which I assume still includes the charge for the hotel.

There is a facility called chargeback whereby you can get the money back from the credit card company if a supplier fails to deliver goods or services paid for with the credit card but if you've cancelled the card they may not be too well disposed towards you.

No, not closed the account. Just protected myself against this company charging the card again..as i see they have done to others.
The money for the hotel rooms has already been paid for via credit card. I dont owe the company anything...they cancelled my room they now owe me.

Here's what I do - when I find a hotel website, the first thing I do is look to see if there is a mailing address and local phone number. If I can't find either, I know it's an intermediary website which has probably paid Google to promote them to the top of a search listing.

Enough of these websites have either gone bust or were scams from the start so I now only book direct with the hotel itself. A lot of them dress up websites to look like the official website of hotel X but the reality is that you are booking with a third party and have no guarantee that there will be a reservation when you present yourself at the hotel reception desk.

What's to debate with the credit card company ? The hotel site took your money and didn't deliver the product. They even admit they didn't deliver the product (cancelled the booking) according to other posts. What more do the credit card company need to know ?
