    Hi all ,
we are heading off to Salou in a couple of weeks and as the only flights direct to Reus airport is with Ryanair so we need to watch our baggage weights.

So we are hoping to buy all foods over in Salou in the Lidl or Aldi. we Are looking to get everything apart from butter as its pure Sh1t everywhere outside of Ireland.

Would anyone here have shopped in these shops, is there anything you would get there that you got here, cereals for the kids rice crispies, weetabix ? are they the same as here or close enough ?

    sauces , red , brown ?

Please let me know if you suggest bringing or buying when there, thanks

were in Cambrills Salou if that helps,

Not sure if this is of any use to you, but said I'd post it anyway.

Might be an idea to get a mod to move your topic over to the travel forum as you might get more replies.

Cant remember about Lidl but the bigger carrefours we went to in Spain had the usual breakfast cereals. I`m sure Lidl will do something but dont expect much as they dont really do breakfast in Spain, usually just a coffee and a pastry.

As for sauce I`m sure they will have ketchup but they wont have brown. They might have a bbq one or something similar. Try www.lild.es to find the closest store to you.

There's a supermaket chain called Dia, which are as cheap as chips. The quality of the products is perfectly fine and they have a great veg section but best of all, you can buy a decent can of piss beer for less then 30 cents.

The reason you don't like the butter when you travel is because in a lot of countries the standard butter is unsalted whereas in Britain and Ireland we like salted butter.

In Spain look for 'Con Sal' or just 'Sal' on the butter label and it will taste the same as the stuff back home. 'Sin Sal' means no salt.

There is a lidl near salou I think it is in villa seca. It is a good 25 min walk. There is a Mercadona supermarket in salou. It is a large supermarket that the spanish locals use. Its near the railway tracks in Salou town.

There is a Lidl in Cambrils which is a nice town about 4k south of Salou on the coast. The Lidl shop is down past the marina. It should be a 10 min taxi ride approx from the centre of Salou.

Mercadona is the best supermarket in Spain by far!

You can shop online in english and pick a time for it to be delivered to your door! Great for the heavy water and beer!

    Here is the link https://www.mercadona.es/ns/index.php

    Happy Holidays!
