Euro '12 Top Goalscorer Deadheat Question

Unsure of what my returns on the Top Goalscorer bet are. Before i go into the bookies to collect, could someone explain how the reuturns are calculated on this deadheat bet please?

€10 e/w Dzagoev @125/1 Top Goalscorer

My attempt:
1/6th of the €10 win = 1.666 x 125 = €208.33 +€10 = €218.33
1/6th of the €10 place = 1.666 x (125/4 = €31.25) = €52.06 +€10 = €62.06
€218.33 + €62.06 = €280.39 ??

For the win part, 1/6th of your stake wins. If the bet had won in full you would have received back €1,260 so now you will receive 1/6th of that which equates to €210

For the place part, 4/6ths of your stake wins (6 players tied for 4 spots). If the bet had won in full you would have received back €322.50 so now you will receive 4/6ths of that which equates to €215

So you should get €425 back in total

This exactly like golf if is tied after 72 holes then there is a play off you dont get half stake on that do you...... uefa have declared torres as golden boot winner and that is given to top goalscorer

Well there is a very slight distinction between Golden Boot and Top Goalscorer

That is why most (if not all) bookmakers take bets on Top Goalscorer as opposed to the actual Golden Boot winner.

At the end of the day if you don't know what you're betting on then you shouldn't be betting. And people had plenty of forewarning after the last World Cup when 4 players finished tied on 4 goals.

They paid out on all 1/4 odds for the top 4 goalscorers, I had Villa so I remember.

Great bet on Dzagoev OP. Can't believe 3 goals paid out though.

No they didn't. They divided your stake by how many finished joint top scorer and used full odds.

Doesn't that work out the same though anyway(assuming they also return 1/4 of the stake)?

Actually nevermind, it's the same for a win bet but not a place bet.

5euro each way on torres at 18/1.

if anyone can explain how i got a return of 34euro id be impressed.

worked it out a few different ways and never came to 34!!

I was only expecting 20.75 so happy days for me.

Win portion: €5 win at 18/1 normally returns €95. You only get 1/6th of this which is €15.83

Place portion: €5 place at 18/4 normally returns €27.50. You only get 4/6ths of this which is €18.33

€15.83 + €18.33 = €34.16

You get 1/6th of the stake not the returns though so he gets 1/6th of €5 which is 83c x 18=14.99

Ok, thats the bit Im having difficulty with. Why is my place bit worth more than my win bit!?

Cos 4/6ths of this part won (6 players tied for 4 places) as opposed to 6 players tied for 1 place in the win market.
