The right way to pray the Holy Rosary

Ok so I've been praying the Holy Rosary now for years and since coming back to the Faith I've never actually felt I've been praying it the correct way.

I've always just done it like this: I pray the St.Michaels prayer then the creed. I then meditate upon the mysteries and at the end I say the Hail Holy Queen and then the St.Michaels prayer again and sometimes then say ''Our Lady of Fatima, Pray for us '' and so on before finishing.

But I've heard other people do this prayer at the end and I for the life of me can never seem to memorize it or figure out if I am supposed to pray that prayer. Perhaps somebody could post it for me.

It goes something like ''O Lord, grant that by your life death and resurrection'' or something like this. If I leave this prayer out at the end am I doing it wrong?

I pray the rosary daily too! ;)

Is this the prayer you're referring to?

O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation. Grant, we beseech Thee, that while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Yeah thats the one. Do I have to pray that? If so then I will try to memorize it. I'm just wondering if I am being scruples here with my questions :o

I think the minimum is the 5 decades. Everything else like Creed and concluding prayers are add-ons.

This is so tempting.... but will keep it for the mega-thread and suggest others do likewise

Thank you all. Yes I like the Rosary a lot ( and St.Michaels chaplet too ) and I love how it is very scriptural in its approach and includes the scriptures on meditating on the Mysteries, the Life, Death and Resurrection of Jesus in the Gospel.

The Jesus prayer had its add ons too down through the centuries so either or is fine with the Jesus prayer ( short form or long form ). But the add-on of Our Lady of Fatima at the end of each decade is very important so we must pray it I say. ''Oh my Jesus forgive us our sins'' etc etc

The only prayer Jesus thought us to pray was to the Father.
What justification is there to pray to Mary or any other person but God?

The best way to pray the Rosay is say every word truthfuly and slowly .
It like travelling . You either run or you can walk to the destination .
But I find when I run . I miss the benifits of the words .
It, only when I walk a Get the benifit of them .

Thank you Ken. Sometimes when I pray to Our Lady in her Rosary I tend to go too fast with the words. Before ya know it I am praying the words but my mind is elsewhere. Sometimes Our Lady helps me realise it and I return to trying to focus but get lost again. Its a battle but I pray that I can keep at it and hope that Our Lady blesses me and helps me to pray better each time.

I find also when I am ill and my body aching that concentration really does go. :o

If anyone here happens to pray the Rosary quite regularly I ask for your prayers.

Our Lady Queen of Peace pray for us!

Actually I pray for the intentions of all my internet acquaintances - a decade of the Rosary has been offered for your intentions! Thanks too for your prayers, greatly appreciated! ;)

I've always found the rosary difficult to pray at times. But I can testify to its strength, Gods strength that is.
