Jobs suited for college student??

I am heading to college next year, and I haven't got a clue what part-time job would suit me while having to work during a PLC and hopefully college/university as well. I know we are in hard times but I always believe there is some sort of job out there somewhere, so I want to still be optimistic.

So what type of part-time jobs would college people go for, like what hours, and so on? I am hoping for the best of all worlds, having a part-time job while still having time for college work and friends. But I know in some cases it's not possible.

So what should I be aiming for? I will be in my own home county for the PLC for one year, and then might have to move out of the county for college.

    Please help, thanks. :)

Your hours will depend on your course- some courses have a lot of lectures and tutorials, so you could probably only work the odd evening and weekends. Others are more "study in the library" or "do labs on your own", so you could maybe work 3- 4 full days and study in the evenings or before/ after work etc.

What sort of things are you good at? What sort of things would you hate to do? A lot of college students waitress, or work casual retail in the evenings/ weekends. Tutoring and babysitting are other options, but not for everyone of course! When I was in boarding school, we always had a few college students staying- they would supervise evening study time on a rota and help with weekend outings in exchange for room, board and a small salary. Later, when I worked at the National Concert Hall in Dublin, we had a lot of students selling tickets/ answering the phones/ ushering, as a lot of the work is evening and weekends.
