End of July - too late for finding accommodation for September?

I'm going on holidays from next weekend, until the 23rd of July. I want to find somewhere near UCD (walking distance preferably), but ideally don't want to pay for it over the summer when I'll only need it from September onwards (I realise that I will have to pay for some of the summer, if I want to get a good one).

I don't know whether to view places next week before holidays, or wait until after I come back then look at places. A lot of places are 'available immediately' so I imagine a lot of landlords wouldn't entertain us from September onwards.

Firstly, is paying a deposit now, but starting renting in September, a possibility, or do landlords want rent immediately?

Will July 23rd onwards be time enough in looking for a good place? There'll most likely be 3 of us, but possibly only 2 of us.

Anyone? This is my first time looking for rented accommodation and I'm really unsure as to the ins and outs!

I'd say you'll be fine. Like you said, most landlords want you to move in immediately - they try not to keep places vacant for too long.

I haven't even started searching yet either, so you're not alone anyways.
