My siblings and I inherited the house we grew up in as kids,
Id like to knock it down and rebuild a new house on the site, as the current house is very run down & in neglected condition, not exactly in a terrible state but Id like to start on a blank canvas, if you know what I mean ...

Is this theoretically allowable ? Knock and rebuild on the same site, I undersdtand house design etc would need planning permission etc, but are you allowed knock down your house if you want ?

    thanks

would it not make sense to keep the walls and foundation at least and build from that.

Allowed (to demolish) in theory but Not until you have actually acquired Planning Permission to do so.

Advisable to hire an AT/Arch before you do anything and get their opinions on what is probable on the site, then have pre-planning to see if coco
agree in principle then, and only then, apply to knock the house and replace with new.
