I purchased a 16gb memory stick last Thursday.

I began using it immediately without any problems.

However, when I went back in to use it last night there was a message coming up that there was a malfunction.

What is the best way to remedy this issue?

    Many Thanks

Do you know exactly what the message said? "there was a malfunction" is a bit too vague.

What was the error message. Get that and google it, could be a common problem.

Also what brand is the stick? Did you format it?

"USB Device Not Recognised" it advises that this is because of a malfunction. This is despite it working perfectly last night and remaining unused in the mean time

I've tried several of the recommended solutions but to no avail.

Do you always "Safely Remove Hardware"? Or just yank the stick out when finished?
