how to find IDE or SATA on a laptop?

i have a ubuntu only OS laptop hp compaq nc4400. i need to replace the internal hdd on it. but i am not if i need to buy IDE or SATA 2.5' hdd. can anyone tell me how do i check the hdd type in ubuntu?

The quickest way imo is to open it up and remove the drive, I'm sure googling the drives model details will reveal the connector type however. If you need to replace it just pull it out now and see what connector it uses, if its a machine from the last 6 years its probably SATA
