    Hi

I just want to know what is the best way to tell if you have a bad inverter or if the problem is a bad backlight. I would imagine the screen would be faded if the problem was a bad backlight. what is the best way to confirm a bad inverter.

    regards

I had a bad backlight once on an LCD Laptop and it was like the screen was just black, you could make out that it was on but only at a certain angle.
Never trouble shooted an inverter though.

    Hi

Thanks for your reply. Sometimes this screen works when the laptop is turned on. Other times it is just blank. I have not yet connected it to an external monitor which I will do. I am inclined to think it is the graphics. But then it could be that the inverter is not always giving out enough power. I am inclined to think that the backlight is ok.

I would go for inverter being the culprit in this instance. A failing LCD backlight will usually show strange colours before finally going dead. Inverters usually go well before the backlight, there cheap enough to pick up on ebay, the worst you'll be out of pocket is only a few quid. I'd go with inverter in this instance myself

    Hi

Would an inverter work perfectly one minute and not the next. Could it be that it is on its way to failing. I have still to check the graphics with a external monitor

Yeah the inverter supplies the power to the bulb, if its not able to do this at times the screen would be dark.
