    Hi all!

Spent the weekend viewing potential wedding venues and we are really torn between two - the Armada in Spanish Point, and the Lakeside Hotel in Ballina/ Killaloe. There are so many pro's for both that we are really struggling to call it!

Would really appreciate any advice from anyone who has recently been to weddings in either hotel or anyone dealing with one for their own big day?

Thanks for any feedback in advance!

hey was at the armada in may for wedding (was bridesmaid) and was at a wedding in the lakeside last weekend (was also a bridesmaid for that one!)

both are lovely hotels and venues to celebrate your wedding. The view from both are amazing but the view from the function room in the armada is fantastic. Food in both venues is amazing but I think I enjoyed the food in the armada better, but that was possibly due to the bride and grooms choices for each course!

The staff in the lakeside were amazing as was the service during dinner. I did enjoy both weddings very much but if it was me and I was getting married in a hotel in Clare (which i dont think the hotel thing is for me) i would between the two of them choose the armada.....the pictures that you get on the beach really sell it as an amazing venue.

this is just MY opinion im sure there are others that will say different things :)

Best of luck in your decision!!

My brother in law got married recently in the Armada and had nothing but great things to say about the whole setup back there, as a guest I couldn't find a single fault with everything, great location on a fine day. The only thing is I believe they are fairly booked for most weekends.

Don't know anything about the Lakeside for weddings. I would ask where is the ceremony is being held? Both venues are a long distant apart (almost halfway across the country), this might help make your decision

Thanks so much for the advice. Seem to be hearing only great things about Spanish point particularly! And it really is booking up fast so we will need to decide soon.

We are from limerick so neither venue is too far from home and we are having a civil ceremony which both venues can cater for too.

Our main concern with Spanish point was that we really didn't like the wedding coordinator/manager. Our meeting was very stressful and not in the slightest bit exciting or pleasurable. We really got the impression that they are very popular and could nearly do without our medium sized wedding (120-150!) I wonder if this man is new to organising the weddings or whether we just caught him on a bad day cuz as said, we had only heard good things prior!

We are throwing bunrarty castle in for consideration now too to add to the confusion!... I am not the best decision.maker for the most minor events so fun times ahead I think

    Thanks for feedback!

I got married in Bunratty Castle Hotel, I couldn't recommend it highly enough, meal was fantastic, backroom staff were great, prices were grand (I got married in 08), pictures in the Folk Park & Castle great bonus, handy for people to get to, accommodation was reasonable for people staying, all in all it was great.

I have been at a number of functions at all of the hotels. The best in my opinion is the Armada. However I must say the Bunratty Castle Hotel really suprised me. I think you need to way up the costs to make a decision , but not alone to you but your guests. It would be alot cheaper getting a taxi home from bunratty than having to pay for accomodation in west clare.
