    Hi all

renting a house for the first time, just looking for a bit of advice regarding contracts. I dont know where to start do landlords get one drawn up by a solicitor or use a generic one like this ?http://www.irishlandlordshop.com/page2.htm

    Do you mean:
    1) You want someone to live in a house you own, or
    2) You want to rent a house someone else owns?

I'm also in the same position as OP.
Do I get a written contract before I pay the deposit & rent ?

It's not a case of "do you", it's a case of "demand it", as once you sign up for bullsh|t, you never get back. View the contract, and any stupid clauses, question them and/or get them taken out of the contract before you give them money.
