Yea get them balanced, with some AM alloys spigot rings are needed.

I presume you fitted the tyres on the rims yourself as I cannot image any decent tyre centre putting tyres on rims without balancing them first?

    They need to be balanced.

I hope they didn't balance them if it's shaking that badly at only 125kmph

What would it be. I seem them balance them and there is weights on the wheels.

drive shaft (drivers side and/or passenger side), cv joints..?

a bulge on a tyre could also cause.

They could have done a sh1t job of it.
If it was fine before than you can rule out any mechanical issue with suspension etc barring uncanny coincidence.

Its not tyres and the van has only 13000 miles on it and just had its first doe and 1st service.

Check that the spigot rings are fitted to the centre bore of the wheel.

Yeah, kinda like washers that go between the centre bore of the wheel and the hub. I take it they're there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 108 ✭✭farrellniall

Yes they are there what am I going to do???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,520 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Put the back wheels on the front. If the wobble goes then its a wheel off balance. If its there it may still be another unbalanced wheel or you may need to get your wheel alignment looked at.

Weird if you're using your old tyres, it's probably wheel balancing though.

With the spigot rings, maybe remove one from one wheel and put it onto the hub and check its snug.

I sounds like they balanced the wheels statically. In this mode weights are only fitted in one spot on the wheel (1 Plane).
The best way i can explain is think of when you get steel wheels balanced you get weights on both the inner and outer lip of the wheel (balanced in 2 planes).
With static balancing the machine takes an average and gives you a position to add weights. Unfortunately this can still lead to vibration.
The machine can be set up to do 2 planes with both sets of weights still out of sight. Where static has failed this is what i would do on having to rebalance.
Also could be a bad job or that weights have fallen off.
Get all 4 wheels balanced also, its the right way to do it.
