Such was the stormy weather in Washington D.C last night, there has been a 6 hour delay to starting the 3rd round ( 2 tee start) due to course damage.

Also NO spectators allowed due to concerns for their own safety.

    Makes surreal viewing.

Its very strange alright. Had to laugh at some of the caddies and fellow players clapping for each other. Also, Tiger joking with a camera man saying "no cameras please" was funny.

Tasty chip in by Tiger there.

Woods was 5/1 to win at the start of the 3rd round. Can see him doing it.

I switched over at 11 to find them showing replays of the irish open :-( Why did they stop coverage after 9 holes ?

How many times do people have to be told. SKY only ever finish their coverage when the american channels do.

auto on twitter colf channel coverage started at 7 our time yet sky came on at 8 and cbs continued the coverage til finish according to there twitter page so sky just leave people high and dry as usual

classic case was mcdowell and harrington teed off on rte live but sky showed it 6 mins later

Not true. There was no coverage anywhere online of the end of the tournament last night. Which means it wasn't being shown.

Exactly, people need to get their facts straight before they post. CBS finished broadcasting at circa 11pm our time.

Perhaps you should ask the Americans this!?

    Scheduling.

Nobody had anticipated 6hr delays, genius.

Tough going out there again. Tiger obviously the man to beat. De Jonge has wilted.

That sound when Tiger flushes an iron with this sexy swing.

    Drool.

Tiger very solid and now one in front, hasn't had a bogey since early Friday

    OMG.

182 yard 9 iron, from directly behind a monster tree.

Tiger Woods ladies and gentlemen. Nobody can do it better.

Never - he will never win a major again

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 252 ✭✭speeding

Until tiger wins another major i don't think even he'll think hes fully back. Anyone have an idea where this puts him in the rankings now ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 259 ✭✭Borisss

3 wins. #1 in Fedex Cup.

    Confirmed still a scrub.

    Ridiculous.

If he stays free from injury he has at least another 40 Majors ahead of him. Plenty of time to win one. All it takes is a bounce of the ball and he could well win again.

70% tiger is still superior to all of them. Brendan de jonge is the biggest choker in golf, the poor man has proven it time and time again.

Tiger will never be back to his best, but he doesnt need to be to win multiple events each year. And he will definitely win a major or two more before he's finished.

auto it was shown til end of round cbs took over from golf channel til end round 3 look at pga feed on twitter.... wait til canadian open like last year people will only see last 5 or 6 holes of morning groups and first 6 of afternoon groups

I think you're just repeating what was little more than a silly soundbite from CBS. I suppose it's possible that Tiger could win a Major at 46 like Jack did. But if he does, it will also be completely out of the blue like Jack's was. There is no way that Tiger will be a serious contender for the next 40 Majors.

I think it is possible he won't win any more Majors. He is now older than Watson, Palmer or Ballesteros when they won their last one. My guess is that he probably will win at least one more but the five needed to overtake Jack is virtually impossible.

It may have been from CBS but the point still stands. Tiger is incredibly fit. Fitter than almost every other player out there. In recent years we've seen the likes of Greg Norman and Tom Watson challenging on the Sunday of a Major. They were way older than 46 when they were in contention.

I never said he'd be a serious contender for all of them, but it's highly likely that he'll be up there well into his forties.

Fred Couples has challenged in the last few Majors, and he has back problems.

Of course he can win another major. He is 36 and better than almost every other player in the world on his day. It's ridiculous to suggest otherwise.

I don't think it's about his fitness, he's had four knee surgeries and there's only so many a knee can take, four is already an incredible amount, another injury or two to his knee would be disaster.
Anyhow, not a Tiger thread but he made it so with his solid performance, I nearly hit the ceiling when he rimmed the hole (fnarr fnarr) on that par 5 from through the back, thought it was a Tiger special.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,470 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

Just checked the rankings, I would have expected a jump but he remains at 4. He's only played 34 events from the minimum 40 divisor and has gained more points this season that anyone else so I suppose for 2012 in isolation he's number 1 (Rory 2, Bubba 3)

So? What difference does that make?

He was also younger than them when he won his first major.
He's won more majors than each of them.
He's done lots of things that they have never done.

I don't see how other people's less successful careers can be used as a basis for predicting Tiger's success.

This is not a Tiger Thread.
    Final warning.
