Recording to USB from a Triax - how much space?

I have been asked to record the races tonight on RTE 2 HD between 18.25 -> 20.00. I have only got a ~249MB USB. Will that cover it? If not I may only have to record the important races.

Nope, you're looking at about 3-5GB per hour or just over 1MB per second, on average.
