A high school biology teacher looks to become a successful mixed-martial arts fighter in an effort to raise money to prevent extra-curricular activities from being axed at his cash-strapped school.

Its being directed my Frank Coraci ( The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy ) and is being written by and staring Kevin James.

Being a mma fan i'm interested........ Mainly to see Bas Rutten :D

Just looks like a comedy version of Warrior. Barring a mass of good reviews, I'll be waiting for DVD/TV.

I thought Warrior was a comedy given all the unintentional laughs I got out of that tripe!

Anyway: the director of the Waterboy directs Kevin James? Yeah, I'll pass.

Thank you! If I hear one more person say it's "this generation's Rocky, I'll puke!"

But you're a li'l harsh on Kevin James... he's an idiot and Grown Ups was crap, yes... but he's allllrightttt... :pac:

i dunno the thought of kevin james getting punched in the face in a cage for 90 minutes does seem somewhat appealing :D

Well at least it looks like Kevin James lost weight and shaped up

So this is an Adam Sandler production?

I did like The King of Queens but none of Kevin James's film roles have been good

He looks in decent shape in fairness to him but I'm not a fan of his at all. Big pass for me.

One person I know who is a man in his late 30,s told me before I watched Warrior that it was better than Rocky , I found it hard to believe but said id give him the benefit of the doubt after watching it I felt like finding him and giving him a cop on slap.

    I found Warrior great.
It was one of my movie's of the year, but still isn't as good as Rocky.
Warrior is the closes thing to Rocky for a MMA fan.

Kevin James, he's like the anti-Kurt Russell, every movie he touches he adds a little more smell of faecal matter to.
Useless man, playing to the lowest common denominator, he's not funny, ever, at all.

Apparently this is not a thread about me coming :D

I actually like the look of the trailer, it has "comedy version of Warrior" written all over it, but a bit of fighting, a few laughs and a bit of Salma. I'll take it.

I did enjoy Warror to a certain extent, but better or this generations Rocky not even close, plus the ending of Warrior i found terrible and kind of ruined the film a bit for me.

Anyways back on topic, Kevin James, MMA and comedy is a mash up thats never going to be enjoyable to watch.

Really looking forward to this as an MMA and Kevin James fan. King of Queens is one of my fave comedies but yeah, most films he's in are crap, mostly due to the fact Sandler seems to make fillms sometimes just to give his friends some work.

Anyway, Bas, Rogan, Mayhem Miller and Kevin James make me want to see this. Plus James is an MMA practitioner and trains with some of the legends so I know he will be able to make it look as real as possible while still trying to be funny. I hope Jerry Stiller is his manager!

Saw this the other day....I doubt anyone would ever call it anything other than just passable, but it leans on the good side of the word. It's not as funny as it could have, or should have been, but it's entertaining and I did enjoy it. Kevin James has lost a lot of weight - he's still pretty big but he does have a few muscles to even it out and a world apart from what he used to look like a few years ago. Kevin James and MMA would never have been two words I'd have imagined correlating at all, but it does work pretty well, and the majority of the movie essentially takes the piss out of James and his lack of skill for said sport. I'm even more shocked to discover James is 47 years old - I would have thought he was closer to 40.

All in all, an enjoyable movie, but I suspect not one to see on expectations of high comedy, or fantastic MMA action alone.

I must agree. I enjoyed the film. Really like Bas Rutten was great to watch.

Just read that despite loosing a ton of weight/gaining muscle for the movie, he's since gained it all back again! Guess we won't be getting used to a new Kevin James after all....
