Would someone mind telling me how you do a place pot.what you actually write on the docket?.i know you pick the first six horses to be placed at one meeting but what then.
And is that the best bet for someone who knows little about horses?i just like going through them on a saturday and going by the names that catch my eye
    cheers.

Some links to help you along

Great bet - don't forget the quadpot - last 4 races - introduced for those whose placepot dockets get torn up after the first race...:)

No because how much the placepot pays depends on the prices of the winners/placed horses

I would pick from a card where there is a definite track bias - ie Chester today (low draws tend to figure best)

Go the Tote UK website and they give you the number of tickets running after each race for placepots & jackpots.
Useful if you ever wanted to hedge it.

Oh no it doesn't, it has no relation to the prices at all.

It's a dividend of the fund less deductions against the number of entries into the fund to whatever the base line stake is.

Many people here actually do them?

I have a friend who does them a lot, has had some success but I reckon he breaks even whenever he does actually get one up.
