Do you like the idea of an Outbreak?

Hypothetically speaking of course- If you somehow had the choice to start the outbreak of a Zombie virus, would you do it or prevent it? Maybe that's the wrong question, would you be happy/sad if an outbreak we're to occur I should ask?

Obviously it goes with out saying that its a horrible life to wish for but who here can honestly say a part of them doesn't love the idea of surviving in a zombie infested world with a big ol' shotgun with a group of people. I personally love the idea of scavenging in empty supermarkets for food and supplies and driving around in a big cadillac.

I don't think I would START an outbreak but I wouldn't mind one occuring. In saying this, i would probably be the first to die but the idea of one happening sounds cool tbh.

    Do I get a chainsaw?

Old school slouchey zombies, or new fangled turbo z's?

Wouldn't start an outbreak. Would end one.*

*Against slouchey zombies. Max 10. Chainsaw - large.

Yeah when it comes down do it the obvious answer is no but take friends/family away from the equation, say they were guaranteed survival then what? Like I said, i reckon most people including myself love the IDEA of it but thats as far as it goes..

Turbo at first, but after a week of infection they slow down. And yeah, any weapon you want boyo. Personally its a samurai sword for myself, chainsaws are far too noisy.

This was covered in a previous thread. I think the general consensus was that if you actually liked the idea of it happening, you should have your head examined. :o

I don't like the idea of an outbreak taking place, I like the idea of me somehow surviving and finding unimaginable weapons and killing zombies. Have you never had that feeling before when watching a zombie movie or the walking dead or whatever where you think you'd have made a wiser decision? Or maybe i'm just crazy.

I'm slowly getting sucked into this zombie thing thanks to the Walking Dead.

Nope, wouldn't start an outbreak, you'd have to be bonkers.

The guy with the crossbow in TWD has the right idea. Silent, quick, hunt it, kill it, move on. Though for those moments where TSHTF I'd like a semi/automatic firearm of some description ... that doesn't have an unfortunate habit of jamming, cos that only ever happens when you need to shoot it. Something quiet though. If there's a "herd" approaching it's better to get away than try to mow a lot down. But if it's a finite number, 10, 20 or that, mowing may be an option to take the pressure off.

Some description of slicing sword would be good, samurai or something like that. A small axe or hatchet, and most definitely at least one good fixed blade knife.

I do wonder how a crushing weapon would fare out, such as a long handled hammer. Good swing and scamble a few brains :D

Ammunition is always going to be a problem, whether that's bullets, cartridges, or arrows.

    Sling? Lots of rock around..

Watch 28 days later and answer that question.

There's another thread for weapons btw, but I would have to go for a Samurai Sword, providing I know how to use it. Definitely a shotgun is necessary for moments where you're surrounded.
Yeah Daryl in TWD has the perfect weapon, doesn't waste ammo either as he just takes them out. But at one moment he was stuck and barely managed to reload it in time so that could be a problem.

But in saying that, we live in Ireland and have no access to Samurai swords or awesome crossbows so a machete or a maxed out hurley stick with a knife on the end would do me just fine.

Like 99% of me would hate an outbreak and I'd probably take the easy way out if one did occur but what I'm saying is a tiny part of me likes the idea of a world with no rules or laws, a world where I can drive around as fast as I want killing zombies.

I've seen 28 days later and they're not even zombies to begin with.

plenty of samurai type swords in Ireland, i used to own one years ago, used it as a dust gatherer on my wall until i got fed up with it and sold it :D it even had snake/sharkskin on the hilt, and i managed to give myself a rather nasty nick with it when i decided cutting grass with it was far more awesome than using a lawn mower :D
I'm also pretty sure you can find crossbows too, as good as or better than the one daryll has in TWD

Archery clubs are a rarity but we do have them :)

Not sure how many crossbows are in Ireland, there are definitely some, however they need a license so that may limit them.

Compound bows on the other hand are license free and freely available. I don't know an awful lot about them but I imagine they may be less powerful, but quicker and quieter to use.
