I took those pics about 20 minutes ago in Tralee. They (and possibly other eason stores) currently have external Dane-Elec HDDs with 1 and 1.5 TB capacity, both at €49 each. Yes, they come with a mains power supply and connect via USB2.0, which is probably the reason they are on offer. All the newer drives they have are USB3.0, but for backups or to just rip out the drive that shouldn't make any difference.

I bought one of these before and it never let me format it to fat 32, had some weird software on top, I couldn't get rid of it, but for 49 notes ya can't go wrong...

Were you using CMD commands? Windows won't let you format something larger than 32GB to FAT32, so you have to use CMD to do it to larger drives...

You might not be seeing the entire drive and there might be extra hidden partitions with software on them.
    To completely clean the drive:
-Go to the start menu and enter diskmgmt.msc
-In the lower half of the window, scroll down until you see your drive.
-Delete all the partitions on the new disk.

You should be able to create one new partition and format it however you like. Be careful that you don't delete anything from another drive!

Have these been spotted anywhere else or is it just a deal in the Tralee store?
