Communications - optional 4th year?

Hey, my daughter is just reviewing all her CAO choices and really wants to do either communications in DCU or media studies in Maynooth. One concern is that DCU is a 3 year degree but from looking online there's an optional 4th year module, UANEEN module.

Does anyone have info on this and if it means that the degree is recognized as being over 4 years? I've aware that there can be issues getting work visas for U.S. if degree is less than 4 years. Any help would be appreciated as deadline is fast approaching.

Also, if anyone has any input regarding differences between these courses, pros and cons, that would be great. Thanks so much

Anyone got info on this ? Sorry for bumping but feeling very stressed about the costs and options involved in college and want to make sure she's well set. Her long term goal is to go to the U.S. and I'm worried that as this is a 3 year degree course that it could pose an issue.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Communications is a three year degree. The Uaneen module is a module recognising extra-curricular activity done over the course of the student's time in DCU which students can take in their final year (their 3rd or 4th year depending on the degree).

Thanks, do you know if there's any INTRA or equivalent work placement involved with this course by any chance? or any option of spending a year abroad during this, similar to what's on offer in Maynooth? Thanks so much for the feedback

There's no INTRA or year abroad. This link should have all the information
