Hi guys, my NCT is today and my insurance expired on the 27th. I've renewed and paid for my insurance but my disk hasn't come yet.... I had been hoping it would :(

Can they fail me for this?

I don't think its their job to fail you for not displaying an insurance disk. Do you have a receipt/email printout to show that you paid? You could bring that along for your own piece of mind.

Brought a car to the nct before with no disks on the windscreen, nothing was said, its not their job to look for tax & insurance, they don't care.

Even if they could fail for missing discs, they couldn't fail you in your case, as you are perfectly legal to drive without displaying insurance disc for the first 10 days from the commencement of your policy.
Neither any garda can fine you for that.

Brought a car we had at home to the NCT recently it hand not being used in over a year or more so all the discs on the window were expired by about 15 months. It had no insurance either so we just towed it to the NCT centre. They wouldnt even look at the discs.

Same here, on more than one occasion
