Hi. I am trying to book a sun holiday away for myself and my girlfriend. We don't have huge amount of money to spend. Where has been your best sun holiday?

We are looking for somewhere nice and hot, swimming pool, few nice restaurants, maybe something to do on one or two of the days like a water park or an old town to walk around, and a night out or two during the week.

Where would your top recommendation be?

Zante (Zykanthos) is lovely, I can also recommend that destination.
Any of the Greek islands really would meet your requirements. As would Bodrum or Alanya in Turkey (Kusadasi also, but I prefer the other areas to there). I am sure parts of the Canaries would also fit the bill.
But if you want cheap I would say Greece or Turkey would get you more value for money. Greece because they are desperate for business and Turkey is outside the Eurozone and generally has a much lower cost of living than Europe, so you can eat out, have a drink and go places for much less than in Europe. Eg a 3 course nice meal with drinks in a decent restaurant in Turkey can be as little as €25 to €50 for two people, beer is about €2-3 per pint.

Turkey is not an option for us I'm afraid. Greece does look good!

What about the likes of Lanzarote or Majorca or that? There seems to be a lot of deals for those places?

How about Albufeira, Portugal? Its very lively, has a great old-town full of bars and good restaurants, a water park near by and close to the beach.
