I have my car for sale and just got this email:

Thanks for the response,i am very satisfied with your advert,i will like you to get back to me with is present condition, more pics and your final asking price,i will be requesting this transaction should be done via PayPal,so the PayPal charges is on me,kindly send me your PayPal email and your name or send me money request,if my offer is accepted,so that i can proceed with the payment as am busy at work and do not have much time around me.Make sure you get back to me asap,so that we can arrange for pick up as i will like the pick up to hold at your residence location,so no shipping.

Looking forward to read from you asap

Looks like a scammer to me, but why would a scammer want to use paypal, or do they just change the story and try to get money out of you or what?

I think they can take the car and then open up a dispute with Paypal and somehow get their money back, they keep the car and get their money back, not sure though but it definitely sounds like a scam.

From beginning to end a scam. Have a root around on this forum, there is a thread somewhere relating to all these scams and how they work.

One day I will get my hands on a pre-pay credit card, sign up to Paypal with it and start fishing for those scammers.

It would be interesting to see how they get their money back as a "charge-back" from a pre-paid credit card once its cashed on a new TV:D

Of course it is a scam. Why on earth would someone agree to buy a car they haven't even seen in the flesh, never mind even test drove?

The thing is you never get the cash to begin with only a fairly impressive looking email from "PayPal" saying the cash is held until the buyer confirms receipt of the item ( usually in Nigeria ) thing is paypal Don't do that kinda thing.

But to OP it's a scam from the very first sentence. Stay away.

I got one before and decided to play to see how far he would go. Would only use paypal, no cash or moneygram. Seems to be a chargeback scam.

Incidentally, when I was away on holiday someone opened a case with ebay about something my girlfriend sold. They were refunded the money from MY bank account without my permission because I didn't reply on time. Trying to get the money back but no reply. I have the buyers address but it was only £15 so not enough to do anything about it.

Im amazed the OP even has to ask. From the first letter to the last it has scam written all over it.

Even the standard of 419 Nigerian broken English on it's own would have scam alert alarms goign off.
And yeah, who the hell ever buys a car without even seeing it and pre pays.

I love the part "so theres no shippings". Yeah like your going to put it in a jiffy bag and post it to him.

    retarded
