Banagher Cruise

Have hired a couple of cruisers for my stag do leaving from Banagher on Saturday and to return on Tuesday and am looking for a suggested route. First weekend in August.

We're all in our mid to late 30s and not complete eejits, that said on the Saturday night we're looking for somewhere to end up after a day's cruising. Initially i had hoped we could make it to Killaloe but it's looks to be a bit too far.

I understand the Shannon Boat rally is on in Athlone (stopping in Athlone overnight on the Saturday) so i had thought heading south would be the better option. Plan is to make it to Killaloe on Sunday night and start to head back for Banagher on Monday, to arrive on Tuesday. I don't know if that makes sense?

Any advice on a place to stop in on Saturday night or a suggested route which includes somewhere to stop for pints on Sat night and takes us back to Banagher for Tuesday morning. Again, we're not really looking for nightclubs, but a late bar on Saturday would be great!

    Thanks

Ye might make Kilaloe for sat night if ye leave early & get the bridge at Portumna in the morning. Depending on the lock just south of Banagher ye could do it. Mount Shannon or Dromineer are nice places to stop off on Derg but bring a few slabs for the nightcap.
Just to give ya an idea for time we did Dromineer to Hudson Bay hotel on Lough Ree in a day with a few stops for lunch & the locks.
There's usually good banter with the Rally wherever they stop off. Few screaming kids in the mornings are always great when nursing the hangover..
    Enjoy

Thanks, we've got one or two arriving at Dublin airport @ 9am, so allowing for traffic we'll be in Banagher and hopefully getting underway for around mid day.
