Parking spaces outside house

I live in a typical Irish suburban estate. We have a driveway with two spaces for cars and another two spaces outside the house.

Lately some of the neighbours have been parking outside our house. I don't mind as we don't need the spaces. It just made me curious about the ownership of the spaces outside the house.

Does the owner of a house have the right to tell people to stop parking out side their house?

Are the two spaces on public land?

If he owns the space, yes. If not, no. In the vast majority of cases the space is public road and not owned by owner of the adjacent house.

No, unless the owner of the house owns the roadway outside too.

You do not own the land outside your house, once you go beyond your boundary the land is then public.

To a degree, you can say anything you want. They can ignore anything they want.

In most housing estates you own the property up to the end of your garden. Once the car has up to date tax, insurance and nct, they can park on any public road provided they do so legally.

you could always not park in your own driveway and park outside your house - to curb the neighbours doing so.

They cant park in your driveway - but can park outside your home as long as its a public roadway and not parked illegally (assuming they have paid their tax)

Once the car has up to date tax they can park on a public road. Insurance and NCT wouldn't come into it unless the car is driven.
