Our alarm was triggered last night and system reported as being one of the PIR sensors. Its a wireless Eircom system so I'm wondering does anyone know whether a battery running low in the PIR could cause the alarm to trigger or more likey a fault or something. (The alarm was installed 2 yrs ago now).

Was nothing in the room that could have triggered it unless someone was outside a window (about 6m on the opposite side of the room from the PIR) and could trigger it but I'm guessing thats unlikely?

It should indicate a low battery rather than activate the alarm. Check around the PiR is clean & there are no cob webs spiders etc. Anything reflective in front of the PiR can cause activations also. After that if it keeps activating get it changed.
