Right well i'm thinking about making a custom built computer, so far all i have come up with this motherboard, this Intel i7 processor and this 8GB Ram, This desktop won't be used for gaming more just software development and stuff like that... so is there anything else you would advise? I also have a 250GB hard drive, a multi card reader, cd drive and case i will use from the computer i am using right now... Also 4GB ddr2 ram which i doubt i could use?

The other option i have either is this Pack, which would you choose and would you bother with water cooling or is there a need? The computer i use right now is a 24/7 server too but doesn't have much traffic so it doesn't ever really heat up because of that and its a piece of junk from about 5 years ago...

    1) About €400 - €1000, I'm trying to keep the costs down as low as i can.

    2) Web ans Software Development, with maybe some MineCraft on the rare occasion.

    3) Nope.

    4) Hitachi 250GB Sata 3.0gb/s (Model: HDT725025VLA380), 4GB DDR2 RAM, DVD drive Toshiba Samsung (Model: TS-H653), I also have a card reader but i hardly ever use it...

    5) No, I have a 32" 1920x1080p full hd tv i might use or the old 19" VGA monitor.

    6) Nope.

    7) Maybe.

    8) Most parts will most likely be bought in shops near me like PC World, Maplins or online like dabs.ie.

    9) Sometime maybe in the next month or two.

    10) Cavan, but no i know how to but it together i'm just not sure which parts would be best for me because most pc's i'v ever looked at were high end gaming pc's but i do all my gaming on my Xbox...

Also i have an Intel i5 laptop with 6GB RAM, Radeon graphics that's what i use for college and when i'm out and about and for MineCraft but i just need something newer for my home because i run a server off it. I might need a new power supply too because the one i have is pretty old...

Something like this, if the software can make use of multiple cores and you want it cheap:

    Item|Price
    ASRock 970DE3/U3S3, AM3+, ATX|€55.95
    8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9|€36.71
    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 450W|€40.98
    LiteOn iHAS124-19 schwarz SATA|€19.19
    Samsung SSD 830 64GB SATA 6GB's Paper Box|€69.29
    BitFenix Merc Alpha|€31.61
AMD FX-8120 Prozessor, Boxed, Sockel AM3+|€149.19
    Seagate Barracuda 7200 500GB SATA 6GB's|€61.68
    SAPPHIRE HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E HDMI / DVI-I / DP (Lite Retail)|€94.29
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€577.88

Get this if you need more power, if the software doesn't scale brilliantly across multiple cores or you're willing to spend more:

    Item|Price
    8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9|€36.71
    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 450W|€40.98
    LiteOn iHAS124-19 schwarz SATA|€19.19
    Samsung SSD 830 64GB SATA 6GB's Paper Box|€69.29
    BitFenix Merc Alpha|€31.61
    Seagate Barracuda 7200 500GB SATA 6GB's|€61.68
    SAPPHIRE HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E HDMI / DVI-I / DP (Lite Retail)|€94.29
    Intel Core i5-3450 Box, LGA1155|€173.55
    ASRock H61M/U3S3 (B3), Sockel 1155, mATX|€55.07
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€601.36

Get this if you want the best:

    Item|Price
    8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9|€36.71
    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 450W|€40.98
    LiteOn iHAS124-19 schwarz SATA|€19.19
    Samsung SSD 830 64GB SATA 6GB's Paper Box|€69.29
    Seagate Barracuda 7200 500GB SATA 6GB's|€61.68
    SAPPHIRE HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E HDMI / DVI-I / DP (Lite Retail)|€94.29
    ASRock H61M/U3S3 (B3), Sockel 1155, mATX|€55.07
    Intel Core i7-3770 Box, LGA1155|€291.29
    FRACTAL DESIGN Gehäuse Define Mini|€81.59
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€769.08

You could change the graphics card in all of those builds, as the PSU is a bit overkill.

I have a 250GB Sata drive from my last computer that will get me started off and an external 2TB drive lying around, I have a lightscribe dvd drive too which isn't too important, just for the odd installation disc and for the graphics card i don't really play games so i might just upgrade that at a later stage, same with the Samsung SSD 830 64GB SATA 6GB's Paper Box i might get that at a later stage too and run the OS from that and use the HDD for storage...

    What do you think?

An SSD with only Windows is a waste of an SSD. You should put Windows and your 5 most used programs (or all the programs you use) onto it, to get the maximum use out of it. As Windows can be about 20GB, 64GB will go pretty fast!

Also, would you benefit from a dual monitor setup in your work as a Web and Software Development person? I only ask I see a few coders using a dual monitor setup and wonder if it allows them to work easier?

Well i'm not getting the SSD right away but at a later time because i want to spread the cost over an easier to manage time because i need to get a new car too :/ So i might think about maybe a 120GB drive for the OS and programs after a while and for the dual monitor setup, i don't really have any more space for another monitor at the moment but i'v been looking into dual and maybe even triple monitors in the future after i find a better place to put them...
