Transferring music from iPhone to MacBook Pro

My old Dell laptop just died so took the plunge and bought a new MacBook Pro.

I stupidly never backed up my iTunes on the Dell laptop so only have whats on my iPhone. Is there any way I can (easily) copy the music on my iPhone to iTunes on the MacBook?!

    Thanks!

Short answer is no, if you try syncing on the new machine you just wipe the music off your phone. I think there may be a way to do it rooting your phone but I wouldn't know how, I'm not techy enough! How dead is the Dell?

Isn't there a program called Senuti that does this ?

It's not free but there's a 30 day trial with a 1000 song limit. Might suffice ? Here's how to use it.

Not sure how it'll handle a Windows formatted device though.

I think its a battery/overheating issue. If I can get the Dell turned on for a few minutes do I just copy iTunes onto a USB and transfer it over that way?!

Your new mac should have icloud? Im not sure how it works on macs but on any new apple device I can now download songs I bought years ago and thought I lost forever on the ios itunes! (didnt back my comp up and got a harddrive failure) Have a look around for such feature in the itunes app. ( thats is of course if you bought yours songs of Itunes, if not you may have no way of doing it)

Unless you buy itunes match, then all the music on his phone should appear in his itunes account (and thus his MacBook).

Depends if you want to pay for this service op.

For what is worth, I was in your position twice before and failed miserably at getting all my music off the device onto the computer. There is software out there but it doesn't work very well imo.

    good luck.

Can you Take the Hard drive out, and get yourself an enclosure? Then you can copy your iTunes folder over to your new machine.

Was the music bought through iTunes?

If the new computer is authorised to your iTunes account does it not let you transfer music/purchases from the phone?

or on the laptop go to iTunes > Store page > Purchased (under quick links) and see if there is anything available for download there?
Either under your name or "not on this device". I recently salvaged some music from here after moving my iTunes library and losing some files along the way.

Download expod, it'll grab everything off any mobile apple device and allow you to transfer it to any mac you would like, it's free too. works quite well.
