Slipping/Not connecting gears

    Hey,

I gave my bike a clean last night, nothing out of the ordinary (just degreasing the drivetrain and general overall clean).

This morning I had trouble with my gears not connecting and then dropping in after a few seconds. My shifters seem to have lost tensions too.

    Any ideas?

Put the bike upside down. Pedal it round in gear and turn the barrel adjuster required until it stays nicely in gear. They are on the down tube where the cable leaves the housing to become bare wire. Also there is one at the rear dérailleur.

    Cheers Ashleey.

I know how to index the gears but I'm shocked at the difference between yesterdays ride and today's. I must have twisted the barrel adjuster while cleaning it. Hard to think that I adjusted it that much to make such a difference.

Did you take the rear wheel out while you were cleaning the bike? Maybe it's not properly seated in the drop outs?
