Can anyone tell me what happens if a 17 year old is caught drink driving? My cousin told me that his friend got caught and all that happened to him was he had to go to liaison officer meetings; is there any truth in that?

    Thanks

AFAIK it will be a court appearance and a disqualification from driving.

It could be true. All juvenile offenders are considered for the "juvenile diversion programme" and the decision as to how to proceed rests with the Superintendent in that section. That pre-supposes that the offences committed / admitted are not required to be sent to the D.P.P.

In that persons case it might well be true. But more than likely they would get there licence revoked and a suspended sentience which is why they would have been going to a liaison officer. Then if they were to break the terms of there suspended sentence they would face jail.
Each case is different and each judge is too. They would have every right to send him to st pat's.
