Watch suggestions please...!

I am not a huge watch person, also don't have large sums to spend on buying Omegas or IWCs, so I am looking for something around 100-200 that looks nice and sophisticated yet not too fancy, not too big and not too bling.

Sizewise, 42mm is probably as big as I would dare to go. Recently I got 45 mm Poseidon, but it looks too big (for sale in adverts). I also like thin watches, but with date, chronograph, moon face and all those fancy things.

PS: I was silly enough about watches that I once bought a Patek Philippe replica. It turned out alright - works, not that accurate, but looks really good and dressy type classy, although I don't wear it often as anybody who have heard of Patek Philippe would know that I couldn't possibly afford a real one.:)

Please feel free to suggest any watches that have that "understated yet classy and sophisticated" look, even if it's slightly over my budget.

You will find tons of Seikos in your price range, and I think they're excellent value for money. See if this search on amazon works for you.

I think the Tissor Visodate is a classy watch, however it's too expensive in this instance so the Tissot Tradition instead maybe?

Tissot Visodate looks too plain, but the Tissot Tradition you liked is a beauty. I don't know if I can spend that much, will have to talk nicely to herself for a while and see..

it also has the "benefit" of being an automatic, as opposed to Quartz, so if that matters to you, you can justify it to her indoors by saying it's more of a real watch!

Generally speaking, I would recommend that you explore the Junkers & Zeppelinn ranges on the (German) bay. They make some very nice watches for affordable money

I think he was looking to sell that a while ago, which might be why it's cheaper. Can't remember if it's the same one.

I was toying with the idea, but personally I think there's far better value out there than Tags. I don't want to spark off another "tag snob" discussion; that's just my personal opinion - I'm far from an expert.

If you're considering a sportier look than the original one, then you've more options. Tissot again could be an option. This one is £299, so it's a bit above your original budget.



I had one of these (on a steel bracelet and with a blue face though) and it's a nice watch - I just found that 40mm is just a little bit too small for me. 42mm is the smallest I'd go.




If you are thinking of upping your budget to 300+, then you're in Steinhart territory, which are really nice.

Browsing thru Amazon, I came across a couple of agreeable designs within my price range. A few of them are 'Obaku' - there are youtube videos etc where the designer explains their Japanese/Zen calm with Dutch minimalism etc. To be honest, they had me as soon as they mentioned Japanese Zen, and I do have a thing for thinner watches (probably because I have these small and thin forearms..)

There's a number of Skagen watches in the 'similar items' list too - just wondering has anyone heard of 'Obaku', are they any good?
